The goods train that collided with Kanchenjunga Express was allowed to cross all red signals.

According to the Railway Board, the driver of the goods train that hit the Kanchenjunga Express in Darjeeling was allowed to cross all red signals between Ranipatra station and Chattar Hat Junction due to failure of the automatic signaling system. According to the board, the driver of the goods train did not follow the prescribed speed limit in the event of the problem.
