IPS officer Shiladitya Chetia, who shot himself minutes after his wife died of cancer, was the Home Secretary of Assam. Shiladitya, a 44-year-old DIG rank officer, was previously SP of Tinsukia and Sonitpur and commandant of the 4th Assam Police Battalion. According to reports, his mother and mother-in-law also died in the last few months.
