Why do women have white discharge and what diseases can it be a symptom of?
White discharge is a part of vaginal health so that the vaginal tissues remain moisturized, its pH level remains balanced and bacteria/dirt/germs etc. stay away. However, excessive white discharge can be a symptom of diseases like sexually transmitted infections (STIs), yeast infections, gonorrhea. If there is burning sensation and pain/itching/bleeding/smelling around the vagina along with white discharge, a doctor should be contacted.
